Term Structure
Each term includes 10 sessions, with a one-week break halfway through for half term. The term concludes with a showcase, where we all come together with friends, family and all the other TAL students in your area, to celebrate and share the work you've done.

Which course is right for me?

DISCOVER: Foundations of Acting
Our TAL 1 course introduces the basics of acting, building confidence and skill through a supportive environment. Guided by a Core Tutor and industry professionals, you'll explore different roles, collaborate with various actors, and work with different directors and styles to enhance your versatility and adaptability.

BUILD: Technique & Craft
Our TAL 2 course builds on foundational acting skills, encouraging you to deepen your creative instincts and expand your performance range in a supportive and collaborative environment. Guided by experienced tutors and inspired by influential practitioners, you'll explore new techniques that challenge both your physical and emotional expression.

PLAY: The Creative Process
The TAL 3 course focuses on building independence in performance. You'll develop techniques for rehearsals, auditions, and character work, creating a personalised toolkit for practice outside class. You'll explore various acting styles and practitioners like Uta Hagen and Ken Rea, working with monologues, physical theatre, and classical texts.

PERFORM: Modern Acting Skills
This course is designed to broaden the range of work you're doing as an actor Through focused scene work, you will learn to express clear intention using refined voice and movement techniques. The course places strong emphasis on the analysis and practice of modern texts, helping you uncover subtext and context to bring characters to life with authenticity and depth.

SCREEN: Acting for Camera
TAL 5 is dedicated entirely to the craft of acting for camera. You'll develop a thorough understanding of what the screen demands from a performer, covering everything from technical awareness on set to the internal, detailed work that the camera rewards. You will refine your acting skills and become "industry-ready" with guidance from a supportive Core Tutor and visiting industry professionals.

PRESENCE: Power & Charisma
TAL 6 is about ownership. This term is about what you bring into the room as a performer, developing the quality of attention, presence, charisma and command that separates a competent actor from a compelling one The course is designed for those pursuing a professional career in acting and/or looking to elevate their craft to a new level.

CRAFT: Advanced Performance & Industry Support
The TAL 7 course provides regular opportunities to connect with the realities of the professional world through industry-focused check-ins and sessions with tutors and your group. These encounters offer valuable insights and support students in building meaningful professional networks to support their career development.

SCENES: Practical script work Advanced
Scenes is pure scene study. Each session, you bring the material you want to work on, whether that's an audition piece, something from a current project or a text you've been wanting to get inside, and the focus is entirely on the work in front of you.

One-to-ones with your tutor to review your journey
Sit down with your tutor and talk about your progress. Every term ends with a scheduled one-to-one to ensure you are happy and moving forward. We are here to support you.

Attendance & Commitment
Much of the work we do in class is based on group participation, so regular attendance and commitment to the course are important. That said, we understand that life happens. If you’re unable to attend a session, just let your course leader know in advance — we’re flexible and understanding.

What to Bring
You don’t need to bring anything – all materials, including scripts, will be provided. Some students like to take notes or highlight their scripts, so feel free to bring a notebook and pen if that suits your learning style. It’s entirely optional.

What to Wear
Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in easily, along with flat shoes. Think practical and relaxed.

Class Size
To ensure everyone gets individual attention and plenty of time to participate, each class is limited to a maximum of 17 students.

Homework
You'll be working with exciting and engaging scripts throughout the course. We encourage you to learn your lines between classes. Occasionally, we may assign additional character work, which you can explore as deeply as you like.

Schedule
All classes run from 7:00pm to 9:30pm on a weekday evening. The specific day depends on your course level and location.
